Dear IFMA community,

You are warmly invited to join the Illinois Farmers Market Association (IFMA) on Tuesday, November 17, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., at the , in Chicago, for an evening of fun, music, beer, and tamales! All proceeds from the event will go towards IFMA’s continued efforts to increase food access for SNAP (food stamp) recipients, low income families, and senior citizens at farmers markets across Illinois.

Tickets include one beer, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, and all further proceeds at the bar will be donated to IFMA. Food will be for sale from Yvolina’s Tamales, a vendor at the Pilsen Community Market, who uses local produce from Chicago farms to make the best traditional tamales we’ve ever tasted! Entertainment will be provided by Penny Jar, a city-country duo that will be sure to delight.

 Who:  The Illinois Farmers Market Association is a non-profit organization that provides educational support for farmers market organizers, farmers, vendors and other community food and nutrition organizations through partnerships, resource-sharing, and training on best management practices, operating procedures, and state regulations through workshops, webinars, and various social marketing venues.

 What: It’s a party! Lagunitas Brewery is graciously donating their space and beer to our organization. Your ticket will allow for one free beer at the bar, after which all drinks are regularly priced. IFMA will receive the proceeds from all beer purchases.

 Why:  IFMA is working to increase the number of farmers markets that accept the Illinois LINK card to expand SNAP recipients’ access to fresh, local fruits, vegetables, meat, and dairy products.
