EBT for Markets in IL

Great news, Illinois markets! From the Office of the Lieutenant Governor:

Up to 150 Illinois farmers markets could receive free wireless machines that accept credit, debit, and LINK cards thanks to a grant partnership announced today by LT Governor Sheila Simon, a local food advocate who chairs the Governor’s Rural Affairs Council.

This is excellent news for farmers markets that have not been able to afford to offer credit, debit, and LINK services at their markets in the state of Illinois – providing improved fiscal access to fresh, locally-grown produce and other locally-produced foods is a win for consumers, a win for food producers, and a win for the markets themselves.

Good luck!
